I first met Laine at Norcross High School, where my husband has taught and coached for years.
Laine when on to graduate from Norcross in 2016, but she came back for her brother’s football games when he played for Norcross. I would often run into Laine or her family on the field after a game when the player and their families gathered. She always had a bright smile and was full of joy…and despite her senior year at UGA being cut short, she still had that bright smile when I met her on campus for her senior photos!
Laine has spent the past four years at UGA as a sports management major. She had a group of football players assigned to her that she had to keep up with—and even go watch them in class to make sure they stayed on task and were doing what they should be doing!
We started out in the Founders Garden where we laughed when Laine had a “Marilyn Monroe” moment when the wind picked up the skirt of her dress—then we headed to North campus and finally finished at the stadium—which was an important location to Laine! Laine donned a #7 jersey in support of her fellow Norcross grad, Lorenzo Carter, affectionately known as “Zo” who played for Norcross, then UGA, and now is playing for the New York Giants. We hung out on the patio at the stadium for her last round of photos. This girl is going to do amazing things—I’m so proud of her, and she has an amazing outlook and attitude in what has been a crazy end of her senior year. Laine is excited to return to UGA in the fall and start her master’s! Congratulations Laine, and Go Dawgs!!
