Chandler and Margaret: UGA Chapel, Athens, Georgia

Saturday couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for Chandler and Margaret. These two UGA grads had fond memories of their time spent in Athens—particularly in the Redcoat Band—so saying “I do” at the UGA chapel was the perfect place to begin this new chapter in their lives!

We started the day at the Athens Classic Center and the Hyatt Hotel that adjoins it. Margaret was getting ready there with her closest friends. Margaret is following in her father’s footsteps and recently graduated from dental school. I loved getting to know Margaret—not only is she from my hometown of Winder, Georgia, but she’s a horse girl! Her grandmother hand painted her horse which she used for stationary. She was also a member of the Redcoat Band, so we had a lot in common! After we photographed her bridal details, her mother zipped her into her gown and she shared a first look with both her father and her bridesmaids. She then made her way to the ballroom staircase for a first look with Chandler.

Chandler is quite possibly one of the sweetest grooms I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. He was a music education major and is currently a band director. He was all smiles as he turned to see his beautiful bride, and after a sweet moment together, Margaret gave Chandler his gift and they read one another letters they had written.

Once the first look and a few portraits in the ballroom were complete, we headed to North Campus for the ceremony!

The historic chapel was decorated with greenery and a beautiful floral arch on the stage. We completed portraits and the bridal party was tucked away before the ceremony. As guests found their seats, a brass quintet that Chandler arranged began to play. The bridal party processed down the aisle followed by Margaret on the arm of her father.

Chandler and Margaret exchanged vows, rings and were pronounced husband and wife by the same pastor, a family member, who married Margaret’s parents.

After family portraits and photos at the iconic bell and arch on North Campus, we hopped on the shuttle to head back over to the classic center for their reception.

The bridal party was introduced and Chandler and Margaret shared their first dance as husband and wife, followed by the father-daughter and mother-son dances. After a blessing and dinner, the dance floor opened. The band was amazing and kept the crowd on their feet the entire evening. At one point, Chandler made a surprise appearance as a featured trumpet soloist in one of the songs and everyone loved it!

Chandler and Margaret had the most perfect day—and it was so fitting for such a sweet couple! It was such a pleasure to work with them, and I wish them every happiness and blessing as they begin their new lives together. Congratulations, Chandler and Margaret!!
