Alex and Natalie: Unicoi State Park Maternity Session

The BEST part of what I do are the relationships I form with my clients…and they aren’t really clients…they are friends. When I used to be a teacher, every year and the end of the year I always felt a pang of sadness when I said good-bye to my students….and I get the same feeling when the wedding is over and my couples turn the page to start a new chapter in their lives. And just like when I was a teacher and I felt a sense of pride for my kids when I saw them succeeding in life, it’s just as rewarding when I get to see the happiness my couples are experiencing and new milestones they reach in journey!

Alex and Natalie have been one of the kindest and sweetest couples I’ve had the pleasure to work with and know. I’ve had the privilege of photographing their engagement session with their dogs, Zoey and Charlie, their wedding at In the Woods, and now their maternity session at Unicoi State Park.

As I got to know Alex and Natalie at their engagement session, I learned about their love for hiking, mountains and the woods. Alex proposed on one of their hiking trips, and the outdoors are just a part of their story together. When we were brainstorming locations for their engagement session, we settled on this place—which is actually special to me! I’ve been coming to this location for years, and my girls have grown up picnicking multiple times a year right here by the bridge. Knowing Alex and Natalie’s love for the outdoors, this mountain stream seemed the perfect spot for their session!

I was so excited to see them again—and to be honest, it was a disappointment to not be able to give them a big hug with the “social distancing” era that we are currently in. Natalie looked classically beautiful, as she always does, and Alex was handsome with the new beard he was sporting! I loved getting to catch up with them, and even though Alex isn’t fond of geese, he agreed to slip in with Natalie when the geese who photobombed us began to float down the stream!

These two are going to be amazing parents…because they are amazing people…and they are so excited to welcome their baby girl this July. Alex is going to be an awesome girl dad because he has two sisters…so I have no doubt this little girl will have him wrapped around her tiny finger in no time!

I can’t wait to keep up with them, and meet their sweet girl. I’m thankful that we keep in touch and that God brought this sweet couple into my life a few years ago—because they have become friends. Natalie and Alex, I am SO thrilled for you…congratulations!!!
