Kevin and Kristen: Madison Presbyterian Church and The Variety Works Winter Wedding

I loved Kristen as soon as I met her at the Athens bridal show in January. I learned right away that she was a teacher and she had graduated from both of my alma maters…Loganville High School and The University of Georgia.

Kristen and Kevin met at Loganville High School and they played tennis together. They started out as friends but then their relationship grew and they were high school sweethearts. Together, they attended the University of Georgia. Kristen loves everything classic and southern (another reason I adore her!) and this love was reflected in their engagement session at the Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast in Covington, Georgia as well as their gorgeous winter wedding Saturday that took place in the historic southern town of Madison, Georgia.

The day was cloudy but warm for December. Kristen and her sweet bridesmaids were getting ready in the bridal suite on location at The Variety Works. Her bouquet was a stunning ball of white flowers and her girls had evergreen bouquets with white roses.

Kristen’s gown was a simple but stunning satin gown with buttons all the way down the back…a perfect reflection of her classic personality and style!

Her sweet mom, Toni, zipped her into her gown and helped her into her sparkly stiletto heels. After photos with Kristen and her girls we went right into a first look with Kevin. His face lit up when he saw his beautiful bride. We shot some portraits at the Variety Works and the James Madison Inn before heading over to the Madison Presbyterian Church. This historic church was founded in 1821, and when you walk on the grounds it feels like you are stepping back in time. Once we completed the portraits, I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin’s grandfather, who, like my grandfather, served our country in the Korean War. Kevin’s grandfather beamed at his grandson when we took a few special photos of them.

Kristen’s flower girls proudly handed out programs to the guests as they filtered in, and Kristen’s father proudly escorted her down the aisle to Kevin. After exchanging vows and lighting a unity candle, they were pronounced husband and wife!

We finished family portraits literally just as the rain began and then everyone headed back to the Variety Works to celebrate Kevin and Kristen!

During the reception it was raining, and Kevin and Kristen trusted me to follow me out into the rain to get some fun night shots! I just love these because the light rain looks just like snow!

Throughout our year working together, there was never one time that I spoke to Kristen that she didn’t thank me for what I was doing. She and Kevin always answered me with “yes ma’am” , a thank you and a hug. I have grown to love these two and they have become more friends than clients. I know they will remain that way, and I look forward to seeing where this amazing journey takes them in the future! Kevin and Kristen, you have always thanked me, but I want to thank YOU for being such a blessing and bringing me joy as I worked with the two of you. I love you both, I’m proud of you, and I am so thrilled to have had the privilege of being a part of and capturing your beautiful wedding day. May God richly bless you both!
